Fashion Development
Here is a piece that I had created in 2017. During High School as my love for fashion developed also did my love of fashion through imagery, specifically magazines. Collecting magazines became a side passion of mine collecting pieces from American Vogue, British Vogue, Italian Vogue, Glamour, Elle, and many more.
Another passion came from collecting these magazines, collaging. This piece was created from some of my favorite photoshoots in my magazines and showcasing my favorite high fashion brands. The creative flow came from the different placements, colors, and designs created within this piece.
My development of fashion came from this piece. Learning that I could take a passion and turn it into a beautiful piece, realizing that I could make fashion into more than just a hobby. I could take my hobby and passion and make it into a career.
Collage Sketchbook
Here is a piece I have created within my fashion portfolio class. Were we tasked with developing a collage. One we felt mirrored our personal theme. Completing this piece introduced me again to my passion for collage. Within this piece, I took inspiration from the original collage I created in 2017, but with a twist.
The twist was that with the help of collage I could tell a story to the viewer. The story I chose to tell was fashion through history. Using the information I learned in my contemporary fashion class, I used each selection to tell the story of each decade with fashion.
The first two pages tell the story of the origin of fashion. Art and later fashion brands for the mass development of fashion.
Next, the third and fourth pages depict fashion in the 1940s and 1950s. Through sketches, royalty, and old Hollywood. The Fifth and sixth pages depict fashion in the 1960s and 1970s. Through its introduction of new styles, silhouettes, colors, and patterns.
Next, pages seven and eight tell the story of the 1980s and 1990s. The new energy brought to fashion in this era is showcased along with the introduction of supermodels who brought a new wave to the fashion industry.
The last two pages are a presentation of fashion today. Fashion's influence through pop culture and political events. Along with a highlight of the runway and its impact on the fashion industry today.
